Well I finally took all my kids back to the farm. I grew up on the farm well and had lots of wonderful memories there with my Grandparents. I wanted my kids to really experience some of the fun things that I did. It was a bit different since my Grandmother passed away about 4 years ago and my Grandfather has since remarried but even with the difference we all had fun. It was a very short visit due to circumstances beyond our control and I regret how short it was. One fun memory we had growing up was going out to the chimney and roasting hot dogs and marshmallows on coat hanger wires. That is what we did the first night. Bonnie my Grandfathers new wife made sure that was the first the we did.
We hopped on the back of the truck ALL of us.... and drove out to the chimney that's a little ways back on the farm. It use to be a house and the only thing left of it is the chimney. And tried to start the fire....
and tired....(the boys really pushed me out of the way so they could get it started) BOYS.... And We have fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Success. They were so proud of themselves. And finally we can eat And just relax and enjoy each others company. This is Grandma Bonnie and she made my kids feel so at home. I am grateful for her. And glad she is part of the family. And this is my Grandfather. He so enjoys having the great grand kids around.
Part of the experience of "the chimney" is taking card board boxes out there and sliding down the hill. I didn't get any pictures of that becuase well I was just too scared I would fall down the hill and bust my butt . The kids got absolutely filthy doing it but had a blast. One tick in a very special area and 7 baths later everyone was fast asleep in bed. That much fun can wear anyone out.
I am a very busy mother of 7 wonderful children. So my life is never dull. We are quite the zoo I am realizing but who doesn't love the zoo right? This blog has become my journal so you will see the good along with the ugly but thats our life.
