against my wishes

Okay Tom thinks that Eliza is ready for some food. I think that she is too young but he thinks that I have some subconscious issues about her eating food. We had some food in the house that a friend of his from work sent home. He made the cereal and she had a few bites. I think she liked it she had a few bites but then started spitting it out. She is only 3 months old. But Nathan was 3 months when I tried it with him because she just was not satisfied with anything. I wish you all could have seen him at that age. He loved real food and couldn't get enough. I made a big bowl of cereal and he ate the whole thing. I thought he was going to explode. She may want it but she will be the last an I guess I am trying to keep her young as long as possible. I don't know. She already does things that make her seem like she isn't' a baby any more. She practically sits up all by her self. She never wants to be cuddled. She seems so big and old but she really is only 3 months old. Tom fed this stuff to her all against my wishes. In fact it was totally behind my back. I didn't even take the pictures. Aaron did. What do you think. Too young to get food? Or am I just being mean denying my kid what she wants?

She is so cute! Next thing you know Tom will be feeding her ice cream! HaHa- I am glad to see that my husband isn't the only one that does things like that :)

You are so funny Dana. You are the kind of mom who hates to see her babies grow up, huh? We started to give William food around 3-4 months. I say give the babies what they want - it makes for happier babies!!! (Reid and I are debating the pacifer issue right now... do we take it away even though he only uses it at bedtime? Side A- We don't want him to be addicted and make it hard to get rid of later on PLUS I hate pacifer breath. Side B- He goes down with out so much as a wimper and sleeps 14hrs a night) It is a difficult thing!!!

OH dana, i totally empathize. i didn't want to give it to everett and avoided it as long as possible. A) i love having a baby around and wanna keep it that way and B) it's a huge freaking mess! But i started chloe at about 4 months. i held off with everett until i was ready, and by then, he was totally ready but was fine with out it. they say the sooner you start them, the more likely they'll have food allergies, but judging by my family, the opposite is true. so take it for what it's worth to you. anyway, it's a touchy balance learning when to let go eh? good luck. update us.

I would say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! But I am like you, nurse them as long as possible. I started mine at 5 months and hated to do it but wanted to see what they would do. Anyway, hearing the other comments, if it's what she wants...I don't know. She just seems sooooo young. But your milk is skim milk. I don't know Dana! I would say, if you want her to eat solids, it's now your job Tom. I will nurse you can do solids when you get home from work.

PS - don't base ANY decision on my comment! I am not a fan of breastfeeding. In addition, I relish in seeing my little ones grow quickly out of the baby stage. So... based on that and reading how you feel, I wanted to clarify my comment and say do what YOU think is best for your little one. You are the mommy!!! :o)

My kids didn't take cereal until around 5 to 6 months. I tried at 4 with all of them, but they just weren't ready. Our pediatrician said wait until at least 5 months - preferably 6 months. If you're not ready - there's no harm in waiting!

I thought I would comment on a couple of your comments. Mollie, Tom gave her a blue sonic drink when she was 2 months old. It wasn't icecream but it was a specialty drink. I could have killed him. Leighanna, I felt no hurt by your comment what so ever. In fact I asked for everyones opinions. And as far as William goes that is a tough decision because you know he sleeps well at night but you don't want to rock them boat. Hard choice. Its just a hard choice. Mom thinks that she would be a less fussy baby if I gave it to her. I think that I have skim milk. Maybe she just isn't satisfied.
